An Armless Chair on a Sled Base

The Tekapo dining chairs arrive as a coordinated pair, each carried on two closed loops of solid wood instead of four separate legs. On each side a single length leaves the seat frame at the front, drops to the floor, turns through a rounded corner into a runner that reaches back along the ground, then rises at the rear and returns to the frame, closing the shape. Above that base the seat is a deep boucle cushion with no arms at either side. Behind it, two uprights carry up from the rear of the base and hold the backrest away from the cushion, leaving an open gap between the two upholstered panels where a solid chair would have a join. Small studs fix the backrest to each upright. The seat sits at standard dining height, and pads under the runners meet the floor along their length.

Care Instructions

• Vacuum the boucle regularly with a soft brush attachment to lift dust before it settles into the loops

• Avoid catching the boucle loops on sharp objects, which can snag the woven surface
