The Somna 8-inch twin mattress is made for the bed someone sleeps in every night. At eight inches, it has the height to rise above the side rail of a platform frame or an upholstered bed, so the mattress reads as the top of the bed rather than sinking into the frame. The extra height also leaves more foam between you and the base than a slim mattress does. Memory foam gives it a medium-firm feel, contouring around shoulders, hips and knees while the surface stays steady enough to turn over on. A white knit cover quilted with a raised pattern wraps the top and sides. With no coils inside, it sits on a solid platform or a slatted base, and its straight sides fill the frame to the corners.

Care Instructions

• Open the box near the bed frame, cut the outer wrap carefully without touching the cover, and unroll the mattress onto the frame
• Allow up to 72 hours for the mattress to expand to its full eight-inch height before judging its feel
• A light new-foam smell is normal after unpacking; keep the room ventilated and it fades within a few days
• Use a fitted sheet or mattress protector to keep the cover clean
• Spot clean the cover with a damp cloth and mild soap, blotting rather than rubbing, and let it air dry fully before making the bed
• Do not soak the mattress or machine wash the cover unless the label says it can be removed and washed
• Rotate the mattress head to foot every few months so it wears evenly
• Use it on a solid platform, a slatted base with slats no more than three inches apart, or a bunkie board; wide gaps can let foam sag between slats
