One Frame Holds a Whole Room

The Rilven loft bed is the twin XL version of this metal frame, built so every side under the deck carries storage. A powder-coated steel frame lifts the platform on square posts, full-length guardrails enclose the deck, and a steel slat deck holds a Twin XL mattress with no box spring, purchased separately. Below, a four-compartment cube unit anchors one end with a desktop extending off it and turning the corner along the frame. The opposite side opens to a hanging bar with more than four and a half feet of clearance beneath it, enough for long coats and dresses, over a full-length base panel that spans post to post. The ladder rises off that panel at one end. The deck is rated to 350 pounds.

Care Instructions

• Wipe the steel frame with a soft damp cloth and dry it right away so water does not sit on the coating
• Wipe the desktop, base panel and cube panels with a soft damp cloth and a mild detergent, then dry immediately
• Blot spills on the desktop as they happen rather than letting liquid sit along the panel edge
• Avoid abrasive powders, scouring pads, bleach and solvent-based cleaners on the frame and the panels
• Wipe the hanging bar with a dry cloth and keep damp clothes off it until they have dried
• Vacuum the cube compartments with a soft brush attachment rather than reaching in with a wet cloth
• Dust the slat deck and guardrails with a dry cloth, reaching between the bars rather than only across them
• Touch up any chip in the coating so bare steel does not sit exposed to damp
• Retighten every frame bolt after the first two weeks of use, then check them every few months
• Lift the frame clear of the floor when repositioning rather than dragging it
