A Bunk Bed That Grows Down

The Perenna bunk bed is the twin over full version of this convertible frame, drawn so the lower bunk carries a full-size mattress rather than a second twin. Rubberwood posts stand at all four corners, joined into head and foot panels of evenly spaced vertical spindles and side rails that carry thirteen slats on each level. A third twin bed sits on its own seven-slat base beneath the lower bunk and pulls out when someone stays over. The ladder climbs at an angle with a handrail of its own and bolts to either side of the frame, so the approach follows the room rather than the other way round. When the room changes, the bunk unbolts into a standing twin and a standing full, each keeping its head and foot panels, and no mattress needs a box spring at any point.

Care Instructions

• Dust the frame with a dry cloth, following the grain rather than working across it
• Wipe finished surfaces with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately so water does not sit on the finish
• Avoid abrasive powders, scouring pads, bleach and solvent-based cleaners on any surface
• Keep the frame away from radiators, heat vents and long hours of direct sunlight
• Clear dust and stray toys from beneath the lower bunk so the trundle pulls out and pushes back freely
• Retighten the ladder bolts after moving it to the other side, and check them again a week later
• Check the slats every few months to make sure none has shifted out of position
• Check the ladder and guardrail connections whenever you strip the upper bunk
• Retighten every frame bolt after the first two weeks of use, then check them every few months
• Lift the frame clear of the floor when repositioning rather than dragging it
