A Dining Chair With No Legs

The Neretva dining chairs arrive as a coordinated pair, each one a single upholstered shell rather than a frame with a cushion set into it. The back stands taller than a standard dining back and narrows toward the top, while the sides carry straight down without breaking into posts anywhere along their length. Chenille covers every face, and the only interruptions across the whole surface are one seam where the seat meets the shell and a second down the centre of the back panel. At the floor the shell closes on a solid wood plinth. Both the back and the seat are deeply padded, and the seat rolls over at the front on a wide arc rather than ending on a hard edge. Pads sit under the plinth at each corner to keep the base level on a hard floor.

Care Instructions

• Vacuum the whole shell weekly with a soft brush attachment, drawing along the direction of the pile rather than against it
• Keep water off the chenille wherever possible, as the pile holds a mark where it dries and the ring can stay visible
• Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth, pressing straight down instead of rubbing, which flattens the pile in one spot
• Spot-clean with a solvent-based upholstery cleaner rather than a water-based one, testing on the back of the shell first
• Brush a flattened area gently once dry to lift the pile back level with the surface around it
• Work the brush along the two seam lines, since the seat join collects crumbs faster than the open panels
• Wipe the wood plinth with a soft dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals and household cleaners that can lift the sealed finish
• Keep the chairs indoors, as neither the chenille nor the sealed base is finished for outdoor exposure
