A Loft Bed That Holds a Closet

The Lilwen loft bed is the Twin XL version of this high loft frame, built for a room where the closet is too small or missing entirely. A powder-coated steel frame lifts the sleep deck on square posts, full-length guardrails enclose the platform, and a slat deck holds a Twin XL mattress with no box spring, purchased separately. One end opens into a hanging wardrobe, its rod spanning the full width above two drawers that pull out on metal glides for folded clothes. The opposite end carries two open shelf panels stacked for books, bins and display. A perforated pegboard panel closes the outer side of the wardrobe, ready for hooks, baskets and accessory shelves, and a ladder fixed to the frame climbs to the deck. The upper deck is rated to 350 pounds.

Care Instructions

• Wipe the steel frame with a soft damp cloth and dry it right away so water does not sit on the powder-coated surface
• Wipe the shelf and drawer panels with a soft damp cloth and a mild detergent, then dry immediately
• Blot spills on the shelf panels as they happen rather than letting liquid sit along the panel edge
• Avoid abrasive powders, scouring pads, bleach and solvent-based cleaners on the frame and the panels
• Clear grit from the drawer runners with a dry cloth so the drawers keep pulling out smoothly
• Wipe the pegboard with a dry cloth and lift accessories off before cleaning behind them
• Wipe the hanging rod with a dry cloth and keep damp clothes off it until they have dried
• Retighten every frame bolt after the first two weeks of use, then check them every few months
• Lift the frame clear of the floor when repositioning rather than dragging it
