A Low Loft With a Room Underneath

The Isella loft bed is the twin version of this low frame, built so the space below becomes somewhere to be rather than somewhere to store things. A powder-coated steel frame lifts the deck just over two and a half feet, guardrails enclose the platform, and a slat deck holds a Twin mattress with no box spring, purchased separately. A desk extends off one end at standing-desk height for a child, and a nine-drawer chest of soft fabric bins fills the back wall. An RGB light strip mounts beneath the deck and shifts color, brightness and fade pattern by remote. Storage stairs climb the far side with open shelves set into the risers, and a fabric caddy clips over the guardrail beside the pillow. The deck is rated to 350 pounds.

Care Instructions

• Unplug the light strip at the wall before cleaning anything on or around the frame
• Wipe the steel frame with a soft damp cloth and dry it right away so water does not sit on the powder-coated surface
• Wipe the desk and stair panels with a soft damp cloth and a mild detergent, then dry immediately
• Avoid abrasive powders, scouring pads, bleach and solvent-based cleaners on the frame and the panels
• Lift the fabric bins out and vacuum them with a soft brush attachment rather than wiping them wet
• Spot-clean the fabric bins and caddy with a barely damp cloth and let them dry fully before refilling
• Dust the light strip with a dry cloth only, and keep the remote away from liquids
• Retighten every frame bolt after the first two weeks of use, then check them every few months
• Lift the frame clear of the floor when repositioning rather than dragging it
