Meet Grenoble - A Pattern That Closes

A dresser spends most of its life closed, and most dressers look the same that way: a stack of flat fronts and a row of pulls. The Grenoble 6-drawer dresser turns the closed position into the point. A single ripple pattern is carved across all six fronts, beginning as a spiral in the top corner and spreading into rings that sweep over the whole face, and with no handles in the way the carving only completes when every drawer is shut. Rounded corners at the top and sides soften the outline, a recessed plinth keeps the base light, and the painted finish comes in soft, low-saturation tones. Fold sweaters into the wide drawers, set a lamp and a few books on top, and push everything closed again to bring the whole pattern back together. As a carved ripple dresser, a handleless 6-drawer chest and a sculptural bedroom dresser, it suits bedrooms, nurseries and apartment living rooms.

Take A Closer Look

Carved Ripple Fronts
1.

Carved Ripple Fronts

All six drawer fronts are carved with one ripple pattern that begins as a spiral in the top corner and widens into rings. Close every drawer and the grooves line up into a single carved panel.

Handle-Free Drawers
2.

Handle-Free Drawers

The fronts have no knobs or pulls. Each drawer opens from the gap along its edge, which keeps the carved surface uninterrupted and leaves nothing sticking out to catch a hip or a sleeve as you pass.

Metal Drawer Slides
3.

Metal Drawer Slides

Each drawer travels on a pair of metal side-mounted slides instead of wooden tracks. They carry the drawer out smoothly and keep it level, even when it is filled with folded clothes, towels or spare linens.

Rounded Top and Sides

Rounded Top and Sides

The top and the side panels are rounded where they meet the front, so the corners have a soft curve instead of a sharp edge. The curve echoes the rings carved across the drawers below.
