A Round Table on One Column

The Genoa coffee table is built from two forms stacked on each other. A pedestal rises from the floor and narrows as it climbs, its face angled inward the whole way so the base reads wider at the ground than at the top, meeting the underside without a bracket or a plate showing at the join. Above it the top is a full circle, its rim rolled under through a continuous curve so the edge reads soft from a seated angle rather than cutting a hard line. An even grain covers the top and continues down the pedestal face, the figure matched in direction across both forms. Nothing interrupts the floor around the base, no legs at the corners and no stretcher between them, leaving the rug clear from every side.

Care Instructions

• Wipe the surface with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately, rather than letting water sit on the finish
• Blot spills as they happen, particularly along the rolled edge where liquid can collect underneath
• Use coasters under cups and a trivet under anything warm to protect the sealed surface
• Avoid abrasive powders, scouring pads, bleach and solvent cleaners anywhere on the table
• Keep the table away from radiators, heat vents and prolonged direct sunlight, which can lift the veneer over time
• Keep standing moisture off the base, since the engineered core swells if water reaches it through a chip in the finish
• Dust the dark finish regularly, since a deep tone shows settled dust sooner than a lighter surface
• Lift the table rather than dragging it when repositioning, and keep the base pads clear of grit
• Check and retighten the hardware between the top and the pedestal every few months
