Meet Estelle - Soft Rails, Wood Frame

Most upholstered beds pick a side, all fabric or all wood. The Estelle queen platform bed uses both. The headboard is three channel-stitched panels of boucle or velvet, framed in wood that extends past the mattress on either side, so the bed looks set into the wall the way a built-in would. Lower down, the rails and footboard are padded in soft rectangular blocks all the way around, so the edge you sit on or brush past at night is upholstered rather than hard. A low wood plinth base carries the frame to the floor, and wood slats hold the mattress without a box spring. Prop yourself against the tall headboard with a book, let the nightstands meet the wood frame on each side, or make it the bed in the guest room. As a queen upholstered platform bed, a wood-framed headboard bed and a boucle or velvet bed with no box spring, it suits primary bedrooms and guest rooms.

Wood-Framed Headboard
1.

Wood-Framed Headboard

The headboard is three horizontal padded panels set inside a wood frame that extends beyond the mattress. Nightstands tuck right against the wood on each side, giving the bed the look of a built-in wall.

Padded Block Rails
2.

Padded Block Rails

The side rails and footboard are upholstered in a row of soft rectangular blocks that wrap all four sides. Sitting on the edge or brushing past at night, you meet padding instead of a hard frame.

Low Wood Plinth Base
3.

Low Wood Plinth Base

The bed sits on a low wood plinth recessed slightly under the upholstered rails. With no legs and no gap, the base meets the floor in one clean line and leaves no space underneath for dust to collect.

Wood Slat Foundation
4.

Wood Slat Foundation

Inside the frame, a row of wood slats supports the mattress directly, so no box spring is needed. A queen mattress up to twelve inches thick rests on the slats, held in place by the padded rails on all four sides.
