A High Loft Where the Desk Works

The Elden loft bed is the twin version of this high frame, built so the desk underneath is a place to sit rather than a ledge to reach into. A solid rubberwood frame carries thirteen slats for a Twin mattress with no box spring, purchased separately, and guardrails enclose the open sides of the deck. Below, a desktop spans one long side at standard chair height with more than two feet of clearance above it, enough for a monitor to stand upright and a chair to pull all the way in. A ladder of wide flat rungs builds into the frame at the same end as the desk. Beside the desk, the rest of the floor stays clear from post to post. The deck is rated to 200 pounds.

Care Instructions

• Dust the frame with a dry cloth, following the grain rather than working across it
• Wipe finished surfaces with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately so water does not sit on the finish
• Blot spills on the desktop as they happen rather than letting liquid sit along the panel edge
• Avoid abrasive powders, scouring pads, bleach and solvent-based cleaners on any surface
• Keep the frame away from radiators, heat vents and long hours of direct sunlight, which can dry or fade the wood
• Check the slats every few months to make sure none has shifted out of position
• Retighten every frame bolt after the first two weeks of use, then check them every few months
• Lift the frame clear of the floor when repositioning rather than dragging it
• Keep the ladder rungs clear of clothing and bedding draped over them
