A Dining Chair Tufted Without Buttons

The Drina dining chairs arrive as a coordinated pair, each built as a single upholstered shell in faux leather over a painted metal base. Across the back the leather is drawn into a diamond grid, but the points are pulled in and closed off rather than capped with buttons, so the pattern reads as shadow rather than hardware. The shell rises into a low wing on each side, standing just above the seat and framing it rather than carrying an elbow. A piped seam traces the entire outline, around the top of the back, along each wing and around the front of the seat, separating the tufted face from the plain panels behind it. Four painted metal legs taper as they splay outward, each capped at the floor, and the seat is filled with polyurethane foam.

Care Instructions

• Wipe the shell with a soft cloth lightly dampened in water, then dry immediately rather than letting moisture sit at the seams
• Work the cloth into each tufted hollow, since the pulled points collect dust faster than the flat panels around them
• Keep oils, solvents and alcohol-based cleaners off the faux leather, as they can lift the surface coating
• Blot spills straight away by pressing down rather than wiping across, so nothing is pushed into the piped seams
• Test any cleaner on a hidden section at the back of the shell first, and let the surface dry fully before use
• Keep rings, buckles and pet claws off the tufted face, as a cut in the coating cannot be worked back out
• Keep the chairs out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, both of which dry and stiffen the coating over time
