A King Bed That Lifts Open

The Celia king storage bed is made for the primary bedroom where two people share one closet and neither has enough of it. Pull the strap at the foot and the slatted platform rises on two gas struts, hinged at the headboard, opening a storage base that covers almost the entire footprint of a king mattress. It is wide enough for each sleeper to keep a side: one for spare duvets and guest bedding, the other for winter coats and luggage. Above, the wingback headboard spans more than seven feet, tufted in a grid of padded squares, with side wings that wrap the pillows and carry a line of textured oval accents down each edge. Chenille covers the headboard, rails and footboard, plywood slats rest on a metal frame, and solid wood legs carry the base.

Features

• Lift-Up Storage Base that opens nearly the full area under a king mattress, with room for spare bedding, out-of-season clothes and luggage in one place
• Split Storage for Two in a base wide enough to divide down the middle, so two people can each keep their own things below the bed
• Gas-Assisted Lift with two gas struts that help raise the wide slatted platform from the foot end and hold it open while you reach inside
• Waffle Wingback Headboard more than seven feet wide in a grid of padded squares, with side wings that frame the pillows and fill the wall behind them
• Soft Chenille Upholstery covering the headboard, side rails and footboard, with a matte, lightly ribbed texture that is soft under your hand
• Slats on Metal Frame with center support rails, holding a king mattress directly so no box spring or separate foundation is needed
• Solid Wood Round Legs set under the base, lifting the storage frame just off the floor and adding a warm wood detail below the chenille
• 500-Pound Weight Capacity for two sleepers and a king mattress together, carried by the slatted lift platform, the metal frame and the center support rails
• Primary Suite Storage for a shared bedroom where one king bed can stand in for a dresser, a linen cupboard and half a closet

Materials

• Upholstery: Chenille Fabric
• Padding: Foam
• Frame: Metal
• Mattress Support: Plywood Slats with Center Support Rails
• Lift Mechanism: Gas Struts
• Legs: Solid Wood

Care Instructions

• Place the mattress on the platform before using the lift; the gas struts are balanced for a mattress’s weight, and an empty platform can rise quickly
• Keep hands and items clear of the hinge and the storage edge when lowering the platform
• Pack stored items below the top of the side rails so the platform closes flat
• Vacuum the chenille with a soft brush attachment, working along the ribbed texture
• Spot clean with a damp cloth and a mild upholstery cleaner, blotting rather than rubbing, and test a hidden area first
• Brush the oval accents gently with a soft brush; do not pull loose loops, trim them level instead
• Keep the bed out of long periods of direct sunlight to limit fading
• Use standard king sheets sized for 76" × 80"; California King sheets will not fit
• Check and tighten the frame bolts and gas strut fittings every few months
• Rotate the mattress head to foot every few months so the slats carry it evenly
• Each carton weighs over seventy pounds; carry them with two people and assemble the bed in the room where it will stay
• Lift the frame rather than dragging it when moving
