A Bunk Bed With Shelves Built In

The Wrenna bunk bed is the storage version of this twin over twin frame, drawn so each level gets a headboard that holds something. Three open compartments sit beside the pillow on the upper bunk and three more do the same below, each divided into a mix of tall and short openings for books, a lamp, a clock and the things a bedside table would otherwise take floor space to carry. Rubberwood posts stand at all four corners, joined into side rails that carry thirteen slats on each level, so a mattress sits directly on the frame without a box spring. Guardrails enclose the upper bunk along both long sides, and a ladder of fixed steps climbs the end frame. When the room changes, the bunk unbolts into two standing twin beds, each keeping its shelved headboard and a rail along one side.

Care Instructions

• Dust the frame and shelving with a dry cloth, following the grain rather than working across it
• Wipe finished surfaces with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately so water does not sit on the finish
• Avoid abrasive powders, scouring pads, bleach and solvent-based cleaners on any surface
• Keep the frame away from radiators, heat vents and long hours of direct sunlight
• Clear the shelves before stripping the beds so nothing gets knocked off during a change of sheets
• Check the slats every few months to make sure none has shifted out of position
• Check the ladder and guardrail connections whenever you strip the upper bunk
• Retighten every frame bolt after the first two weeks of use, then check them every few months
• Lift the frame clear of the floor when repositioning rather than dragging it
