A Back That Holds the Waist

The Vanern dining chairs arrive as a coordinated pair, each built from three parts kept visibly separate. The backrest is a narrow band curving forward at both ends, upholstered on its face and its outer edge, carried above the seat on two slim black metal uprights that rise from the rear of the seat frame. Below it a fully circular cushion fills the seat with no corners at any point on its edge. A splayed rubberwood base drops from that seat in a natural finish, its legs curving gently outward toward the floor. Between the band and the cushion the chair is open, and the metal uprights stay visible against both the wood below and the upholstery above.

Care Instructions

• Wipe the rubberwood base with a soft dry cloth, then apply a wood-safe polish a few times a year to protect the natural finish
