The back stands straight up from the seat with no curve, no taper and no wing at either side, its four corners squared off and its face flat from top to bottom. Woven fabric covers the back on both sides and continues across the seat, meeting at the corner where the two planes turn through a folded tuck rather than a seam laid flat. Foam pads both panels underneath. Below the upholstery, four tapered solid rubberwood legs angle outward from a wood rail that carries the seat, the only wood the chair shows. Nothing else is added, no piping around the edges, no buttons across the back and no bracket showing at any joint.
