A Mid Century Chair Stripped Back

The Euphrates dining chairs arrive as a coordinated pair, each cut from solid hardwood with nothing on the frame that does not hold it together. A wide back panel spans two uprights at shoulder height, curved gently across its face and rounded at both ends, floating clear of the seat so the lower back stays open. The seat is a single shaped panel eased at every edge and dished slightly across its width, its front corners rolled where the thighs meet the timber. Four round tapered legs carry the frame, the front pair joined by a stretcher beneath the seat and the rear pair rising through to become the back uprights in one continuous line. A warm walnut-tone finish seals the surface across the whole frame, leaving the grain readable and wiping down with a cloth.

Care Instructions

• Dust with a soft dry cloth, following the grain rather than working across it
• Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately so water does not sit on the finish
• Blot spills as they happen rather than letting liquid stand along the seat edge
• Avoid abrasive powders, scouring pads, bleach and solvent-based cleaners on any surface
• Keep the chairs away from radiators, heat vents and long hours of direct sunlight, which dry and fade the timber
• Use the chairs indoors only, and keep them clear of damp rooms and unheated spaces
• Use a coaster or mat if a chair doubles as a side surface, and lift hot items clear of the finish
• Keep the foot caps clear of grit, and lift rather than drag the chairs when repositioning them
