A Futon That Adjusts Both Arms

The Carmel futon sofa bed separates its adjustments rather than folding as one piece. Each arm drops through four positions on its own mechanism, and the back holds at three angles independently of them, so a single arm can lie flat as a chaise extension beside an upright seat, or both can drop level with the back for a flat surface end to end. Grid tufting draws the woven upholstery into rows of rounded squares across the seat, the back and both arm pads, giving the wide panels one continuous texture. A solid pine frame core carries the seating structure beneath the foam. Six tapered black steel legs meet the floor, four under the body and one beneath each arm, keeping the frame level as the arms change position.

Care Instructions

• Allow the cushions one to three days to reach full loft after unpacking, since the upholstery arrives compressed
• Pat the seat and back by hand during that period to help the fill open evenly
• Vacuum the upholstery weekly with a soft brush attachment, drawing the brush in one direction across the surface
• Work the brush through the tufted squares, where dust settles faster than on the open panels
• Blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth rather than rubbing them into the fabric
• Spot-clean with a cloth lightly dampened in a fabric-safe cleaner, testing on a hidden section first
• Move each arm through its positions with a hand on the pad rather than pulling from the outer edge
